  "But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold"

  Upon reflecting on the readings for this week, I felt a passage from the Gospel of Matthew was of relevance to our council. In all that we do as a council, our focus is to be good stewards of this incredible gift (our council) that has been passed down by past leadership. The leadership of the past has worked and tilled a garden, and in this garden, the soil has been enriched and worked over the years. As groups of us work collectively towards our various initiatives emphasizing charity, fraternity, and unity, individual credit fades, and what's left is carrying on the good works of our Knights of Columbus order with grateful humility.
  
  We continue to reap massive bounties, supporting our council, parish, and community.
  
  I thank you all for this opportunity to be Grand Knight. But I did want to take a moment and thank the council, all of the council (not just officers) over the years, and especially WPGK Gerry Zurick (the founding GK of our council) for creating this beautiful garden which we have the opportunity to apply what we are hearing at Mass in the homilies/readings and live out the teachings of Jesus Christ.

- Cor (Men's Program) is BACK!

  "COR" is a men's program that is run on Saturdays at Holy Infant at 7am. There was a summer break and this Saturday (8/22) is our first week back. You do NOT have to be a Knight of Columbus to attend this faith enrichment. Invite a friend! Usually, Maple Donuts are a tasty treat that we enjoy for COR. HOWEVER, this week is the "welcome back breakfast" and the boys are firing up the griddle. Here is a message from our very own Deputy Grand Knight (Fearless COR leader): "Good morning guys! I hope all is well. Tony is making a crockpot egg dish (with no peaches). Edward is making his famous breakfast potatoes. Spencer's wife Beth is treating us to her homemade cinnamon rolls. Dennis is making his delicious blueberry pancakes. I (Ken) am making scrambled eggs and bacon. Eric will be eating a full plate of all of this. We will have a ton of food Saturday morning at 7:00 AM to kick off our 3rd season of COR! I hope to see you guys there. Bring a buddy!" Due to volume of food being prepared, please let Ken ([email protected]) know if you will be in attendance by Friday at 10am so we can adjust the food prep. If this Saturday doesn't work for you, please consider checking it out on a future Saturday - it IS WORTH IT!

A Life-Changing Homily Lesson from Fr. Mark Beard

- One of Fr. Mark Beard's most loved messages came from his final homily, often referred to as "On the Fence – No Exceptions."
  Just days before his tragic death in August 2023, he challenged Catholics to stop living halfway between God and the world.
  "You must decide whether you are in or out."
  Fr. Mark taught that many people try to keep one foot in the faith and one foot in worldly living. He reminded his congregation that Jesus never called His followers to be lukewarm disciples but to make a wholehearted commitment to God.
  Life Lesson
  You cannot grow spiritually while constantly postponing your decision to follow Christ.
  Many people say:
  "I'll pray more later."
  "I'll return to confession someday."
  "I'll become serious about my faith when life settles down."
  Fr. Mark warned that tomorrow is never guaranteed. Every day is an opportunity to choose God and live according to His will.
  Explanation
  His message was not about fear but about love and truth. He believed that authentic love requires honesty. A good shepherd must tell people the truth, even when it is difficult to hear. He frequently reminded Catholics to know their faith, live it courageously, and trust God more than public opinion.
  Quote for Reflection
  "My job is to tell you the truth. Whether you want to accept it is up to you."
  This powerful statement reflects his conviction that every Christian is accountable before God and should seek holiness with sincerity.
